Police are investigating following the assault of a parking officer around 3pm this afternoon in Southport.
Initial investigations suggest the 59-year-old parking officer was dealing with a car parking issue in Nerang Street when an altercation has occurred between the officer and the driver of the vehicle concerned.
The offender has then punched the officer a number of times and then fled the scene in his vehicle.
The 59-year-old man was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment to facial injuries.
Investigations are continuing.
