Arrest for hooning, Coomera

Police from Coomera arrested a 32-year-old Upper Coomera man on Good Friday after a complaint from local residents in relation to hooning in their local street.

Police advised that residents contacted them after the male person was observed doing burn outs in Reserve Road, Upper Coomera. Local residents confronted the male offender who left the area only to return a short time later.

At this time the male offender produced a machete from within his vehicle and assaulted a local resident before fleeing from the scene. Police immediately located the male offender a short distance away and he was arrested for offences including drink driving, wilfully make unlawful noise, commit public nuisance, going armed to cause fear and offences of common assault.

Police are requesting residents to contact Police and not to confront persons detected committing offences.
