Police are investigating after a man entered a house at Southport last night.
Around 8.30pm a man entered the front door of a Beatty Street house carrying an object in his hand.
The man was then confronted by a woman in the house. She struck at him with a broom whilst calling for help.
The man then ran from the home.
The woman, 61, was not physically injured.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, 190cm tall and of average build. He was wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants and had his face obscured by a black cloth.
