Gold Coast police would like to remind motorists of road closures due to the 2015 Broadbeach Blues Festival.
The event will be conducted over four days from Thursday May 21 to Sunday May 24, 2015 with over 100,000 spectators expected to attend this year’s event.
Police have been working with the City of Gold Coast and Broadbeach Alliance to ensure the music festival is conducted safely and with minimum disruption to traffic.
Motorists are to advised that travelling near the Broadbeach CBD area during this four day event may result in delays due to the diversions that will be in place.
“A large contingent of officers will be policing the four day event to ensure public safety and minimal disruption to local residents and businesses as throughout this event,” Major Events Group Inspector Barry Day said.
Delays and traffic congestion may be experienced at the following road closures:
Thursday 21 May 2015 from 9pm to 2am, Monday May 25
• Full road closure of Surf Parade, Broadbeach (between Victoria Avenue and Queensland Avenue; and
• Local access only of Albert Avenue, Broadbeach (between Old Burleigh Rd and Surf Parade)
Thursday 21 May 2015 from Midnight to 2am, Monday May 25:
• Vehicle access to Oasis Shopping Centre and car park is via Charles Avenue from Midnight Thursday 21/05/2015 to Sunday 23/05/2015 inclusive; and
• Taxi rank will be relocated to Surf Parade bus stop opposite the Sofitel Hotel (between Victoria Avenue and Charles Avenue) from Midnight Thursday 21/05/2015 to Sunday 24/05/2015 inclusive.
Friday 22 May 2015 from 6am to midnight Monday May 25:
• Full road closure of Surf Parade, Broadbeach (between Victoria Avenue and Charles Avenue) expect for Sofitel Hotel residents, Taxis and Emergency vehicles; and
• Full road closure of Victoria Avenue, Broadbeach (between Gold Coast Highway and Surf Parade).
