Police are pleased with the behaviour of spectators following this years Cooly Rocks On festival which was held at Coolangatta over the Queen’s Birthday Easter long weekend.

The festival which ran from Friday May 29 to Monday June 8 attracted a crowd of around 100,000 people according to event organisers.

During the 11 day event Gold Coast police as well as officers from the mounted police unit monitored the large volume of traffic and behaviour of festival goers ensuring it was another successful event.

Acting Senior Sergeant Paul James, the Officer In Charge of Coolangatta Police Station said the vast majority of festival spectators were well-behaved and had an enjoyable and safe time.

“The festival had a good-natured feel and considering the large amount of people who attended police are pleased with the relatively low levels of reported crime and street offences which is a credit to those who attended the event. Local police worked tirelessly throughout the event engaging with festival goers to make it safe and enjoyable for those who attended,” Acting Senior Sergeant Paul James said.

Police issued 14 people with public nuisance offence related notices and a further 13 liquor infringement notices were also issued during the event.

Police would like to thank the public for their co-operation with officers over the weekend.
