With a spate of high range drink drivers being apprehended by police in recent days it would seem that some motorists are still not getting the road safety message regarding the dangers of drinking and driving. In Bilinga a 29-year-old female was arrested by police after being caught driving with a blood alcohol concentration of more than five times the legal limit at 0.272%.

In other cases, a 40-year-old female driver and a 35-year-old male driver were both caught driving almost four times over the drink drive limit respectively, all drivers are now awaiting court appearances.

With alcohol and drug driving being the number one contributor as a factor in approximately 30% of fatal crashes in Queensland, police again would like to remind motorists to make alternate transport plans before consuming alcohol.

Acting Senior Sergeant Paul James said do not drive whilst under the influence.

“Any of the above examples could have easily resulted in a fatality, it beggars belief that some motorists still think it’s acceptable to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle whilst utterly intoxicated placing themselves and other road users at risk,” Acting Senior Sergeant Paul James said.
