Project Booyah kicked off today as an all girl cohort began running, drumming and boxing.

The ten new recruits for the program attended the Pacific Surf Lifesaving Club at Palm Beach to be mentored for the first time.

Senior Constable Meredith Spencer guided the girls through the days activities which included ‘drum beat’ a program aimed at developing confidence and emotional health.

The day also included some self defence instruction and teaching from the Queensland Education teacher Chris Redler.

Senior Constable Spencer said the first day went really well.

“I am proud of the way the girls actively participated and engaged,” said Senior Constable Spencer.

This is the start of an 18 week journey of transformation for these girls. The Pacific SLSC is a perfect venue for this current program. Next Thursday they start their first day of their Certificate 2 at TAFE.
