Evade police charges, Runaway Bay

Police have charged two man following an incident that occurred overnight in Runaway Bay.

Shortly before 8pm, police have attempted to pull over a vehicle travelling along Oxley drive, and it will be alleged that the vehicle has then evaded police and drove off at considerable speed.

The vehicle was monitored by PolAir1 as it continued to allegedly drive around northern Gold Coast suburbs before police were able to intercept the car on the Pacific Motorway and three men were taken into custody.

During the arrest, a man believed to be armed and was bitten by a police dog and was taken to hospital for treatment of minor puncture wounds to his shoulder.

A 24-year-old Southport man has been changed with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs, possession of a utensil, driving without a licence, assault police, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts each of failure to stop a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on August 10.

A 27-year-old Biggera Waters man has also been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on August 26.
