An 18-year-old man has been charged with unlawful wounding following investigations into the alleged assault of a man and woman in a unit at Surfers Paradise last Monday night, June 3, 2013.
It will be alleged that around 9.15pm three men forced entry to an Old Burleigh Road unit through a locked front door and assaulted a 28-year-old man with a tomahawk.
He sustained a laceration to his forehead and was transported to hospital for treatment to his injury.
A 36-year-old woman who was also in the unit at the time was allegedly punched by one of the men and received minor injuries.
All three men fled the scene.
There was no property stolen during the incident.
The 18-year-old Mermaid Waters man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow to also face charges of enter dwelling and commit and indictable offence while armed with an offensive weapon and assault occasioning bodily harm.
Police investigations are continuing.
