A man has been charged in connection to the theft of an echidna from an enclosure at a Currumbin sanctuary on August 1, 2015.
Piggie the echidna was recovered safe and well last night after she was left under a fence at the sanctuary.
A 24-year-old man has been charged with receiving tainted property and animal cruelty.
He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
Investigations are continuing.
