Firearm incident, Arundel

A 25-year-old man has been charged following an incident allegedly involving a gun at Arundel this morning.

The incident allegedly occurred around 8am when a female driver observed a vehicle driving erratically through Ashmore and Arundel and took a photograph of the vehicle at a set of traffic lights.

It will be alleged the male driver then produced a firearm.

The woman reported the matter to police. The 24-year-old woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not physically harmed during the incident.

Police conducted inquiries and attended Botanical Avenue at Labrador where they located the vehicle involved and took the driver into custody.

A search was conducted of the vehicle where it will be alleged officers located dangerous drugs.

Police then conducted a search of a nearby residence where it will be alleged they located a handgun and a shotgun along with other drug paraphernalia.

A 25-year-old Labrador man has been charged with going armed so as to cause fear, possess shortened firearms, possess utensils or pipes etc that had been used, possessing anything used in the commission of crime, and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs. He is expected to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow (August 21).
