Not one, but three female police officers from the Gold Coast District have be nominated in the annual Australasian Council of Women in Policing (ACWIP) Awards.
The ACWIP represents female officers working in police services across 20 countries throughout Australiasia, accounting for a total population of over 30.4 million people.
At this year’s conference participants attended from varying countries including Australia, New Zealand, Cook Islands, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan and Vietnam.
Each year at the annual conference ACWIP recognise high achievers through their Annual National Excellence in Policing Awards.
There were 92 nominations across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
This year the Gold Coast Police District nominated three candidates, they include Senior Sergeant Madonna Pringle from Beenleigh, Sergeant Doneena Henry of Coomera Police Station and Senior Sergeant Lavonda Maloy from Surfers Paradise (pictured), in recognition of the superior contributions of each officer in their particular field.
Acting Superintendent Owen Hortz acknowledged how extremely proud of the officers the Gold Coast District is.
“Over 50 per cent of our community is made up of women, and it is essential that we have women’s representation in leadership roles,” Acting Superintendent Hortz.
“By any measure it is clear that each of these officers have excelled in their positions and are a credit to themselves and the Queensland Police Service.
“Being performance based, to be nominated for these awards is a significant achievement in itself. We wish them well and I am confident they will do us proud.”
