Police have arrested two men following investigations into an attempted armed robbery in Southport and an armed robbery in Coombabah yesterday.
Around 6.15am it will be alleged two men entered a Pine Ridge Road store armed with a metal bar and made demands for money. The male shop attendant complied with demands and the men allegedly fled the store with a sum of cash.
Then, around 2.20pm it will be alleged a man entered a Davenport Street business armed with a knife and made demands for money. The female shop attendant ran to the back of the store and the man fled the scene empty handed.
No one was physically injured either during the incident.
Detectives located and took two men into custody last night at two separate residences in Labrador.
A 23-year-old Labrador man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and possession of dangerous drugs.
He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates court today.
A 25-year-old man is assisting police with their enquiries.
