The Ethical Standards Command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 65-year-old man at Robina yesterday.
Preliminary information indicates police attended a Leopardwood Circuit residence around 4.30pm following a call in relation to a domestic disturbance.
Initial information suggests the man stopped breathing after struggling with officers as they attempted to take him into custody.
Police commenced CPR and called for an ambulance, however attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful.
The State Coroner has been advised and the Crime and Corruption Commission has oversight of the investigation.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
