Robina officers get muddy for a good cause

A handful of officers from the Robina Police Station recently took on the Tough Mudder Challenge.

The gruelling 21km obstacle course “fun” run set at Sirromet Wineries at Mount Cotton with money raised going to charities, Soldier On, assisting wounded war veterans and supporting men’s health by assisting the Movember Foundation.

Robina Police station have high standards with regards to their health with many of the staff members tackling strict diets in preparation.

“It is important to look after your body to assist in coping with the demanding tolls shift work plays on our body,” Senior Constable Hayden Strang said.

“Many officers at the station are passionate about keeping their bodies in peak condition physically and mentally to endure the daily tasks the Robina Police station face.”

Seven participants from the Robina Police station trained daily for weeks leading up to the event, including strength, agility and cardio.

20150913_092458.jpeg (Large) (4)In addition to this fitness challenge, the Robina Police station were looking forward to spending the time bonding with work colleagues – albeit in mud.

“We trust each other with our lives every day and to do that we need to know our colleagues and how they cope with certain situations,” Senior Constable Andrew Magro said.

 

20150913_140142.jpeg (Large) (3)Mud pits, barbed wire fences, barricades, and muddy hill sprints, ice pits, climbing through tight spaces and an electrical field weren’t enough to deter them.

The team rewarded with an official headband and t-shirt for their efforts.
