A 27-year-old man is in custody following an evade police incident on the Gold Coast earlier this morning.
Around 7am a car was allegedly observed driving erratically in Falkinder Avenue at Paradise Point.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle but were unsuccessful.
Around 8am police again sighted the vehicle allegedly travelling at speed on Thomas Drive in Surfers Paradise.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle and it again failed to stop continuing on Ferny Avenue.
The vehicle travelled to Southport and was located by police a short time later parked near the Southport Courthouse.
Police approached the vehicle and discovered the man inside was armed with a firearm which he allegedly pointed at close range at one of the officers.
The man was taken into custody without further incident at the scene a short time later.
Investigations are continuing.
