Gold Coast Police would like to remind motorist that changed traffic conditions are now in place ahead of this morning’s Gold Coast Airport Marathon.
Over 28,000 competitors are expected to participate in this year’s event.
All events start and finish at the Southport Broadwater Parklands.
The course for the Marathon follows the beach roads down to the Esplanade at Burleigh Heads.
Police are working closely with external stakeholders to ensure the marathon and associated events are conducted safely and with minimum disruption to traffic.
Gold Coast police would like to thank the Gold Coast community for their understanding and patience that was shown to the competitors and officials throughout the runs that were conducted yesterday.
Motorists encouraged to avoid traveling anywhere along the route over the two day event due to diversions that will be in place. Delays can be expected and traffic need to watch out for competitors and fun runners.
The road closures will commence at 4am and will reopen at around 2pm on Sunday the 7 July 2013 an:

• Gold Coast Highway, Southport from Ada Bell Way including Sundale Bridge southbound to intersection of Waterways Drive, Main Beach (Northbound lanes will be two way.)
