On Sunday, smoke could be seen for kilometres, eminating from Mill Road in Woongoolba. Units from Queensland Fire and Rescue Services, local Rocky Point Rural Volunteer Fire Service and Ormeau Rural Volunteer Fire Service were working together to extinguish and control the mulch fire.
As patrols were conducted, police located further grass fires in the vicinity and notified QFRS, to which swift action was taken by fire fighters to contain. Smoke can still be seen from the vicinity. No injuries have been reported.
Over the last couple of days, many locals expressed their appreciation of the Fire Services that were dealing with the incident.
