Nerang Police recently hosted a visit to the Police Station by a group from the Mudgeeraba Scouts.

Constable Kathleen Gilchrist escorted the tour of the station and provided an informative narrative of the workings of the police station and the diverse role of police within the community to the group.

The tour included exploring the police station, examining an operational vehicle and a tentative foray into an actual holding cell.  Constable Gilchrist said some of the group needed a slight prompt to enter the cell.

Secretary of the Mudgeeraba Scout Group, Mr Wayne Veitch said Kathleen was so patient in answering the endless questions from the excited scouts and the interested parents all the while promoting the police in a positive way and leaving the scouts in no doubt they can approach police for assistance if needed.

Constable Gilchrist said that it is important for young people to know that police work within the community to protect people, and that they should be approached if a person needs their assistance.

Previous tours of the Nerang Police Station have been conducted with a wide range of community groups and any person wishing to arrange such a tour is encouraged to contact the Nerang Police Station on 55038999.
