Officer’s from Coomera Police Station along with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) attended McDonald’s Helensvale. Staff dressed up as their favourite hero, to help raise money for McHappy Day.
Both Police and Fire vehicles were on display for children to sit in and have photos taken. Police handed out stickers, answered questions and found it extremely rewarding that most children wanted to donate their pocket money for sick children. Coomera police officers then attended McDonald’s Oxenford where their theme was Circus.
Police met some very special children and even had a photo taken with a young man who can’t wait to grow up and join the Queensland Police Service.
We then headed off to McDonald’s Upper Coomera where their theme was Marvel Comics. McDonalds Upper Coomera had a large part of the car park roped off with activities for children. Again, children enjoyed receiving stickers and making donation’s for sick children.

Our last stop was McDonalds Coomera at the BP Centre, their theme was Super Hero’s and Super Girl, Superman, Batman and many other super hero’s walking made an appearance.
Our time was spent collecting donations and handing out stickers to both children and adults.
Two dollars from each Big Mac sold will go to Ronald McDonald House. McDonalds hopes to reach their fundraising goal of $3.4 million which equates to over 25,000 nights of accommodation in a Ronald McDonald House for families with seriously ill children.
Overall, it was a great day that Coomera police love to support each year. It was overwhelming to see the generosity from members of the public with their donations.
