400 children from Jubilee Primary School were facing the elements at their annual Beach Athon yesterday, at Kurrawa Beach on the Gold Coast. Luckily, after a short down pour the sun came out and the kids had a great time. The purpose of this event was to promote fitness and fun within the school community.
Police from Broadbeach joined the children, meeting with the year one students who are currently learning about the different roles of the emergency services this term. This interaction is vital to community relationships, to ensure that our next generation have a good rapport with police, and know who to come to if they need help.
The officers were met by some very excited little faces who thought the beach was the last place they would be seeing the police.
