Detectives from the Southern Crime Group Gold Coast District today attended an address in Labrador to make investigative inquiries at a dwelling within a unit complex.

When they approached the residence, they heard a disturbance inside and entered to unit to find it well ablaze.

Concerned that there may have been people upstairs, they quickly cleared the unit, before retrieving a garden hose which they used to contain the fire to the kitchen area, before QFRS arrived.

The matter was then dealt with appropriately. The downstairs area of the dwelling was badly burnt out with some damage to the upstairs area.

Police are thankful no body was injured.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
