Detectives from Taskforce Maxima have charged a 25-year-old man overnight following the discovery of dangerous drugs and weapons on the Gold Coast.
A search warrant was executed at a Labrador address on November 19 where police seized a quantity of methylamphetmines (ICE), cannabis, ecstasy, and drug paraphernalia.
During the overnight arrest of the alleged patched member of the Finks OMCG in Carrara, police allegedly located a shortened .22 calibre rifle and a taser.
A 25-year-old Carrara man is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of possessing drug utensils, possessing property used in a drug crime and possessing a ‘Category R’ weapon.
Detective Inspector Brendan Smith from Taskforce Maxima said: “Finding gang members in possession of dangerous drugs and weapons is a regular occurrence for Taskforce Maxima. The risk to community safety from weapons and the unlawful behaviour of criminal gangs is clearly self-evident.”
“Members of the gang continue to offend with a number of arrests of recent weeks revealing their true nature. The community expect us to target offending behaviour and accordingly, we will be unrelenting in our efforts.”
Investigations are continuing into other offences with further charges expected.
