On Friday December 4, Detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit and the Major and Organised Crime Squad executed a search warrant at a Surfers Paradise holiday unit locating eight adults and a quantity of drugs.
Detectives located a large quantity of pills believed to be ecstacy, along with cannabis, utensils and a small quantity of fireworks.
All of the persons involved were interstate visitors from New South Wales travelling together and sharing the accommodation.
Each of the persons, varying in age between 18 and 20, were charged with offences including possession of a dangerous drug including schedule 1 and 2 drugs, possession of utensils and possession of things used in connection with a crime. One of the eight was further charged with possessing explosives (fireworks).
All will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Friday January 15, 2016.
