Detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit in conjunction with Taskforce Argos have charged an 18-year-old New South Wales man after he allegedly attempted to procure a 14-year-old girl online.
Taskforce Argos detectives were alerted to the man’s requests and became involved in the investigation.
The man was arrested on Friday by detectives from Gold Coast CPIU and Taskforce Argos at a Gold Coast Shopping Centre.
He was charged with one count of using internet to procure a child under 16 and four counts of grooming a child under 16.
The man is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on January 8.
