Update: A body was located on Wednesday afternoon, believed to be the 31-year-old man.
Police have suspended a search for a 31-year-old man reported missing today after his kayak was located unattended in Broadbeach Waters.
As the sun sets, conditions are no longer optimal to continue the search, but it will recommence at first light.
The man was last seen just before 7am entering the canal at Hibiscus Park along Alambi Avenue, Broadbeach Waters in a green kayak with his dog.
Then around 8am the kayak was sighted by a member of the public floating upside down near Monaco Street.
His dog was located on a nearby bank.
He is described as Caucasian in appearance, of a slim build and around 183cm tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has blonde dreadlocks and two tattoos – an Australian flag on his right shoulder and a truck on his left forearm.
He was wearing a blue t-shirt and red shorts.
Anyone who may have seen the man is urged to contact local police.
