A man has been charged following an incident that occurred yesterday afternoon in Carrara.
Around 4.30pm, two CIB officers were at an apartment complex on Murev Way when they approached a vehicle that was allegedly stolen as a man and a women were getting into the car.
A female officer has identified herself as a police officer and attempted to remove the keys from the ignition of the car while her male colleague has positioned a police car to block the car from leaving the address.
It will be alleged that the male in the car has driven the car into the officer, pinning her against the police car and hitting another vehicle that was parked nearby before he and the woman then fled the scene in the car.
They were located a short time later by a dog squad officer, and during the arrest the man was bitten by the police dog and treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The woman is still outstanding.
The officer suffered minor cuts and bruising as a result.
A 31-year-old man has been charged with two counts of serious assault police and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a license, willful damage and damaging police property.
He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on April 25.
