Police advising residents not to leave property in their vehicles

Police advising residents not to leave property in their vehicles

How many reasons to break in to this vehicle do you think a thief sees?

It only takes one of these for them to smash your car window over. Even small amounts of change can be enough to entice a thief into your vehicle.

Being parked in the driveway won’t stop someone entering the boundaries of your yard. There are at least four very common items in this photo that are stolen from vehicles.

Smashed windows are sometimes not covered by insurance or will be equivalent to your excess. The inconvenience of having to have the vehicle repaired and time off the road should be enough to encourage vehicle owners to empty their cars before they go inside.

Palm Beach Police and Elanora Police Beat are asking residents to ensure that all items of value are removed or at least hidden from view when parking vehicles overnight on the street or in an open driveway.

Most offences occur overnight during the week, the time when many residents are busy with work and family and items can unintentionally be left in a vehicle.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Crime Stoppers is a registered charity and community volunteer organisation working in partnership with the Queensland Police Service.

For all non-urgent police reporting or general police inquiries contact Policelink on 131 444 or Policelink.qld.gov.au 24hrs a day.
