As a result of information received from a Hope Island community member, local police located a male person on a stolen motorcycle bearing home made registration plates in Crescent Avenue Hope island.
Upon apprehension further drug offences and other traffic related offences were identified which in turn identified that the male was riding the motorcycle whilst under the influence of drugs.
Broadwater Police Beat officers wish to congratulate members of the community for providing information to police and to give assurance that all information provided to police is gathered in the strictest of confidence.
Officers actively encourage community members to assist police and report suspicious activity and to obtain detailed descriptions of suspects to help reduce or eradicate crime within the Gold Coast.
On this occasion, the information provided proved invaluable and resulted in an offender being apprehended.
A 33-year-old Southport man was remanded and will face Southport Magistrates Court on a later date for unlawful use of a motor vehicle, drug possession, driving whilst drug affected and other traffic matters.
