Assault occasioning bodily harm, Surfers Paradise

Police have charged a man following a disturbance in Surfers Paradise this afternoon.

It will be alleged that around 10.30am, a 34-year-old man got into an argument about a ticket with staff of a transport company on Beach Road.

The argument was allegedly disruptive to the business, and so a security guard attempted to escort him from the premises.

The man allegedly became aggressive towards the security guard and spat at him. A physical altercation followed during which the man allegedly bit the security guard on the arm.

Police attended a short time later and took the man into custody.

A 42-year-old Upper Coomera man received medical treatment from a General Practitioner for a bite as well as additional bruising and contusions.

A 34-year-old Scrubby Creek man has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and public nuisance.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
