A 17-year-old-boy will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act following the attempted armed robbery of a convenience store in Southport last night.
It is alleged that around 8pm, he entered the store armed with a metal implement and demanded money from the store attendant.
When the attendant refused, he allegedly struck the attendant with the implement causing minor facial injuries.
He left the store on foot and was apprehended by police a short while later.
He has been charged with attempted robbery – use/threaten violence whilst armed with actual violence.
