A man has been charged with a number of drug and weapon offences following an incident at Mudgeeraba this afternoon (Sunday, September 18).
It will be alleged that shortly before 2pm, a man attended a construction site on Mudgeeraba Road in a motor vehicle.
A security guard working at the site noticed the man from a distance wearing a black balaclava and brandishing a handgun. It is alleged the man laughed and asked the security guard to open the gate, at which time the guard has contacted his supervisor who then contacted police.
Police arrested the man on scene a short time later.
No one was hurt as a result of the incident.
A 35-year-old man from New South Wales has been charged with one count each of threatening violence, unlawful possession of a category H weapon, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing utensils or pipes, and possess property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence.
The man has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Southport Court Magistrates Court tomorrow, September 19.
