To ensure road safety in school zones, local police have been working with school crossing supervisors to conduct audits.
During a recent enforcement effort, crossing supervisors brought this sign to the attention of the school Adopt-a-Cop Senior Constable Kurt Foessel. The previous sign displayed times which conflicted with the speed zone signs. It is important to have uniformity with signage to avoid confusion.
Motorists doing u-turns during the school crossing hours create a dangerous situation as they obscure the view of pedestrians and can cause traffic to bank up over the crossing.
The school crossing supervisors do a great job so we need to make sure we do as much as we can to ensure that they and the pedestrians are safe.
These audits will continue with all schools in the Palm Beach Police Division which encompasses 11 schools.
