Police performing traffic enforcement in Tallebudgera on Saturday afternoon were disappointed when they intercepted several drivers well above the 60 km/h speed limit, with one driver allegedly detected at 97 km/h on the busy Tallebudgera Connection Road.
A short time later police intercepted another driver also allegedly exceeding the speeding who returned an alleged positive reading to drink driving. The driver was transported to police station for a further tests.
The driver’s dog was in the vehicle at the time and as there was no one else to look after the dog it had to be transported to the police station along with the driver.

At the station the driver returned an alleged reading of 0.187 per cent Blood Alcohol Content, more than three times the legal limit. He was subsequently issued with a notice to appear in the Southport Magistrate’s Court on December 14.
The driver stated that they had a ‘big day’ the day before and a couple of beers for breakfast.
Police are urging drivers to take caution and pay attention to signs and make plans to get home that don’t involve them driving after a big night out.
