A man has been charged with an offence under the Commonwealth Criminal Code after allegedly appropriating postal packages not addressed to him and intentionally depriving the correct recipient of the items.

Between December 5 and December 7  2 packages were delivered to an Ormeau address. The packages were addressed to a former female resident who  no longer resided at the property.  It will be alleged that the new male resident has accepted, opened and dishonestly appropriated the postal goods.

After confirming with couriers of the accepted delivery, the correct owner of the goods attended her old address to ask the new male resident about the deliveries. The man allegedly told the woman that no such deliveries were made.

The woman made a complaint to police who executed a search warrant at the Ormeau address and allegedly located all of the misappropriated postal articles. The stolen goods had an estimated worth of $680.

A 35-year-old Ormeau man has been charged with theft of articles in the course of post under the Commonwealth Criminal Code.

The man has been issued with a Notice to Appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on January 24, 2017.
