Update: shooting incident, Pimpama

Detectives have charged two men following investigations into an alleged shooting at Pimpama yesterday afternoon.

Around 5.15pm police were called to a location on Old Wharf Road following reports a man had been shot.

Two men – one aged 24 and the other 58 – were transported to hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

Police will allege two men and a woman attended an address on Old Wharf Road just after 5pm during which time an altercation has occurred and firearm was discharged, injuring two men. The group then allegedly fled the scene.

Officers, including general duties, detectives, the dog squad and Polair conducted a search of the area, taking a 41-year-old man into custody at an address on Dewrang Drive.

A 39-year-old man was later taken into custody at an address in Ormeau.

A 41-year-old Pimpama man has been charged with two counts of acts intended to maim and one count each of unlawful possession of a weapon (shotgun) and unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun).

A 39-year-old Pimpama man has been charged with two counts of acts intended to maim and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils or pipes.

Both men are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
