Palm Beach Police are reminding members of the public that consuming alcohol in a public place is an offence and they may be subject to being issued with a Liquor Infringement Notice for $121.

Caution re drinking in public

Supplying liquor to a minor (a minor is a person under 18 years of age) in a public place may result in a $975 fine.

A minor in possession or consuming liquor in a public place has the potential of a $365 fine.

It is unfortunate that whilst many are able to enjoy a social beverage, there are those who are unable to control themselves resulting in anti-social behaviour and sometimes assaults and worse. It is vital that this type of behaviour is curbed to enable everyone to enjoy their Australia Day celebrations safely.

Police also encourage those consuming alcohol to consider their transport arrangements if travelling to and from venues to celebrate.

Consider all your options and travel safely.

If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.

You can report information about crime anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a registered charity and community volunteer organisation, by calling 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppersqld.com.au 24hrs per day.
