Detectives from the Southern Investigative Group on the Gold Coast are appealing for public assistance to help locate a man who was assaulted in Coolangatta last night.
Around 10pm, police located a white BMW at a sports club on Binya Avenue which is believed to either belong to or is associated with a man who appears to have been assaulted nearby.
A group of men associated with a dark-coloured four wheel drive wagon and a dark-coloured utility are believed to have been involved in the assault.
Police believe the assault may have included the discharge of a firearm.
Both vehicles were driven from the scene at speed.
Police are trying to identify and locate the victim of the assault.
Anyone who may have seen anything in the vicinity of the Sports Club is urged to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.
