Detectives are investigating following a serious assault at Coolangatta overnight.
Preliminary investigations indicate at around 11:30pm a man was walking along Griffith Street when he became involved in an altercation with a group including two men and a woman.
As a result of the altercation the man was knocked unconscious, after which the group fled the scene on foot.
A 26-year-old man was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of head injuries.
