On Wednesday April 26, volunteer staff from the Runaway Bay Rotary Club, Runaway Bay Neighbourhood Watch, QPS Volunteers in Policing from Runaway Bay, Broadbeach, Robina, Coomera and Nerang along with officers from the Gold Coast District Crime Prevention were busy with replacing normal number plate screws with one way screws.
The one way screws were provided and fitted free of charge by an army of volunteers. The screws provide an extra security measure to protect the number plates on your car from being stolen. The screws require a special screwdriver to remove and are designed to deter crime as often stolen number plates are used to attach to another, often stolen vehicles, and used in more serious crime.
Over 150 car owners took advantage of the offer. The one way screw program is scheduled to be held again at Runaway Bay later in the year.
If you have had screws fitted to your vehicle and want them removed, all police stations on the Gold Coast have the special one way screwdrivers available to assist in removing.
Runaway Bay Police would like to thank all the volunteers for helping out with fitting the one way screws. Every little bit helps fight crime.
