Two men have been charged following an altercation that occurred in Coombabah early this morning.
Residents in a house on Kangaroo Avenue were woken up at 2am when they hear a noise outside the house and they allegedly saw two men and after an altercation, the pair left the area.
Police will allege that the men returned around 3.50am and struck a man and a woman with a machete before fleeing the scene.
Two men were taken into custody a short time later by police.
The 34-year-old man received a cut to his forearm and a 35-year-old woman sustained a cut to her face and were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
A 35-year-old man and an 18-year-old man have both been charged with one count of unlawful possession of stolen property and two counts of acts intended to maim, disfigure or disable.
They are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on July 3.
