On Wednesday, July 11, Police and officers from the Cross Cultural Liaison Unit (CCLU) teamed up at the Gold Coast Titans NAIDOC event at Firth Park, Mudgeeraba, Gold Coast.
Local Indigenous players from Preston Campbell Foundation, Kalwun and Krurungal health services joined in on the match.
The event aims to promote the project SUPAC (Sport Uniting Police and Community), to initiate, maintain and co-ordinate liaison and co-operation between police and the Indigenous community.
Over 60 organisations attended the Gold Coast Titans NAIDOC Day, which had activities, performers and information stalls all coming together to celebrate Australia’s rich Indigenous heritage and culture.
Gold Coast officers joined the day showcasing their new authorised uniforms featuring the QPS Look to the Stars artwork’, which is a piece of art designed to break down barriers and build relationships, trust and respect. Visit Look to the Stars for more information.
The touch football match was the main attraction of the day and was played in joyful spirits, big laughs and loads of talent displayed.
This year the QPS took out the cup!
A big thanks to the everyone who attended, supported and demonstrated how important NAIDOC week is to the Gold Coast community.
