Coomera officers have completed their first ‘Pop Up Policing’ display at Pimpama.
The concept sees the deployment of a ‘Mobile Police Facility’ – which is used as a temporary, transportable police station – and is aimed at returning to community-focused engagement.
Following a successful trial by Southport officers last year, the facility has been stationed at the Pimpama Junction Shopping Centre for the past two days. Senior Sergeant Nick Sellars from the Gold Coasts Northern Patrol Group said the division’s first display was met with great support from the local community.
Members of the public are encouraged to meet and talk to the officers, receive security advice and even take the opportunity to get their car fitted with one-way screws to safeguard against number plate theft.
It’s hoped the mobile policing facility will become a regular fixture in division and moved to a different location once a month.
