High range drink driver – Tallebudgera

Police have charged a 20-year-old man after allegedly being almost four times the legal alcohol limit when he crashed a car at Tallebudgera overnight.

Around 11.15pm a man lost control of his car in the southbound lanes of the Gold Coast Highway before crashing into a guardrail.

The man, who was not injured, allegedly recorded a breath alcohol level of 0.197.

While police were in attendance a quantity of cannabis was allegedly located in the vehicle.

A 20-year-old Elanora man has been charged with driving under the influence of liquor and possession of a dangerous drug.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on May 15.
