Gold Coast Suns AFLW Team with Police Recruiting

The Gold Coast Suns AFLW team pose for a photo with representatives from QPS Recruiting.

On Wednesday, June 26, Acting Sergeant Debbie Smithson and Indigenous Employment Officer, Adrian Coolwell went to Carrara to visit the Gold Coast Suns AFLW team.

They provided a short presentation to the team that outlined what the general requirements and process is to become a Queensland Police Officer.

Why would elite athletes like these want to join our ranks I hear you ask?  It’s simple, there are a lot of similarities between the two roles.

Comradery, fitness, team work, communication, tolerance, community service and that spirit of leading by example.

As any elite sports team will tell you, it doesn’t matter what differences (race, religion, sexual orientation, etc) there are between players, it’s the end goal that matters.

That goal is achieved through training, doing their best and supporting each other. This is exactly the same as the Queensland Police Service.

If you or someone you know wants to become part of the Queensland Police Service team, get them to check out the official Police Recruiting website, attend a QPS Recruiting Information Session, call and speak with one of the Recruiting team or they can come into our office for a face to face chat.
