Water Police and divers are presently searching the Gold Coast seaway following the discovery of a bone in waters off The Spit.
The bone was located by a recreational diver last Thursday and handed into police over the weekend.
The bone has been sent to the John Tonge Centre to be forensically examined.
Initial indications are that the bone is human.
It is not known how long the bone has been in the water.
Police will continue to search into the afternoon.
