Gold Coast Police have been given the honour of marching behind diggers during the Anzac Day Parade at Southport tomorrow.

The honour bestowed on police coincides with the commemoration of 150 years of policing in Queensland.

South Eastern Police Region Acting Assistant Commissioner Des Lacy said local officers were privileged to be marching behind true heroes like our diggers and members of our defence forces.

“This is a day for all of us to reflect on the ultimate sacrifices that our Anzacs made to make our country safe.

“Many police officers over the past 150 years have also served in the defence forces and we also march in their honour,” said Acting Assistant Commissioner Lacy.

The Anzac Day March at Southport will take place at 8.30am and will travel along Scarborough Street finishing up at Anzac Park for an Anzac Day ceremony.
