A 34-year-old man has been charged following an incident this morning in Broadbeach.
At around 2.40am, two men unknown to each other were waiting for a taxi on Casino Drive when a verbal altercation ensued.
Police will allege a 43-year-old man from NSW was hit in the face, causing him to fall backwards onto the ground.
He sustained serious head injuries and was transported to the Gold Coast Hospital where he remains.
The 34-year-old Molendinar man was charged with grievous bodily harm and will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on May 5.
