Police have charged a man after an alleged dangerous driving incident on the Gold Coast in the early hours of this morning.
It will be alleged around 12.30am police observed a car that had allegedly evaded police at Mermaid Beach earlier in the night travelling in the opposite direction at speed along Remembrance Drive at Surfers Paradise.
Police performed a u-turn and saw the car stopped in the middle of the road.
At this time there was a number of police vehicles who arrived at the scene which blocked the car from leaving.
Two men were taken into custody.
A 25-year-old Mermaid Beach man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving whilst affected by an intoxicating substance.
He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on July 24, 2014.
Police will continue their enquiries with the 24-year-old male passenger.
Investigations are continuing.
