UPDATE: The owner of the kite surfing kite has contacted police and is safe and well.
Police are seeking information from the public after a kite surfing kite was located on a beach on South Stradbroke Island.
Police were notified an hour ago that the kite, described as an inflatable type and is green, black, yellow and orange, was located on the island.
Police are asking anyone who may own the kite or know anyone who has been kite boarding in the area to contact police on 5509 5700 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
